I am an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), with more than 30 years combined experience, as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner. I migrated from the beautiful island of Jamaica in the early 1980’s to New York, to join my mom and older siblings. Growing up I always wanted to be doctor, and arrived in the United States filled with enthusiasm and determination to pursue my goal. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for financial aid and so I entered the local community college which was more affordable. I was excited to land my first job at Burger King, where I worked evenings and weekends, until an incident occurred which deflated my pride and led me to quit. Shortly thereafter, as fate would have it, I was asked to care for an elderly lady who was recovering from a motor vehicle accident. It was the first time that I felt a great sense of satisfaction and self-fulfillment. The experience was profound, and impactful, and was the catalyst for my nursing career path.

After two semesters I transferred to Downstate School of Nursing in Brooklyn, and in 1988 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Later I relocated to Georgia, and in 2002 obtained a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Kennesaw State University. In 2013, I relocated to Florida for a job opportunity and decided to pursue my DNP degree at the University of South Florida, which I obtained in 2016.

My nursing career started at New York Medical Center, where I worked in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I later worked in Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Home Care, and Medical and Surgical ICU.  As an Advanced Practice Nurse, I practiced in Pulmonary Critical Care, Correctional Medicine, and currently practice as a Hospitalist Medicine Nurse Practitioner. I was also an Adjunct Faculty at my Alma mater, University of South Florida.

Nursing is, and will always be my passion. Everyday my goal is to strive to be the best I can be to represent my profession with great honor and pride. One of my great attribute is having the propensity to motivate others to change the trajectory of their lives. I am passionate about patient care, creating relationships amongst my peers, and providing support and mentorship.

This site is created to engage, empower and educate nurses across the nursing spectrum Regardless of your milestone in the field of nursing, you will inspired, encouraged, and supported.  There will be an open, honest exchange of information that will nourish the mind, body, and soul.

Will you join me on this journey?
